STEPHEN HECHT

Nonflict Specialist

Stephen Hecht brings over 30 years of personal and business experience to the field of conflict resolution and is co-author of the bestseller, Nonflict: The Art of Everyday Peacemaking. His business experience includes leadership in private and public family-controlled businesses, where he has experienced many common and uncommon conflicts first hand.

Million Peacemakers is a non-profit organization which empowers people to transform conflict to Nonflict. Over 230,000 people around the world including 2,300 YPO’ers were trained in the first five years with over 8.6 million impacted. The Nonflict workshop won a record 6 YPO international ‘Best of Best’ awards for leadership development in 2012 when it was first introduced. Many of the conflicts he helped with were with business families in conflict, who were able to greatly benefit from the Nonflict way.

Winner of the Canada Award for Business Excellence and the YMCA Peace Medal, Stephen served YPO leadership at Chapter, Regional and International levels with a focus on education and networks. He was the co-chair of the highest rated YPO Innovation Week event in 2019 and is Vice Chair of the Peace Action Network.

As chair of the Advisory Board of the McGill International Community Action Network (ICAN) that brings together Masters in Social Work students from across the Middle East, he shares the Nonflict way which they take back to their 11 grass roots community centers.

The Vatican invited Stephen to speak at an international conference on Religions and the SDG’s in March 2019 where he presented the Pope the Spanish edition of Nonflict. He was invited back 3 weeks later to work on the Pope’s policy for peace and nonviolence and prior to COVID was planning a YPO Peace Action Network event with the Vatican titled “Love Your Neighbor the Nonflict Way”.

Stephen has an MBA from Ivey Business School, Western University, Canada and a B. Comm. from McGill.
